Village of Deerfield's Green Broker Program
Q: What is the Green Broker Program?
A: The Green Broker Program is a new service sponsored by the Village of Deerfield to help local businesses receive offers for green energy supply from certified suppliers.
Q: Why is the Village of Deerfield sponsoring the Green Broker Program?
A: The Village created the Green Broker Program to take care of the data gathering, supplier outreach, contract review and pricing comparisons so that local businesses can find sustainable energy options without investing a lot of time and effort.
.
Q: Will electricity supply through the Green Broker Program cost more than regular energy supply?
A: Probably not. By removing the broker fees that are usually added into regular energy supply contracts Green Broker offers should be on a level with - or even lower - than standard power supply offers.
Q: Do I Need to Receive Electricity Supply Service from ComEd?
A: Yes, the Green Broker program only serves accounts that are connected to the ComEd distribution system.
Q: What are Renewable Energy Credits?
A: Renewable Energy Credits (REC’s) serve as receipts that demonstrate that a renewable energy resource (wind, solar, etc.) has delivered 1,000 kilowatt-hours of energy to the regional grid.
Q: Can I claim that my business is power with "Renewable Energy" with a supply agreement with a Green Broker supplier?
A: Yes. Electricity consumers that purchase Renewable Energy Credits along with regular electricity from the grid can claim to be using "Renewable Energy".
